For Music Composers, Authors& Publishers.
Established in 1982, Zimbabwe Music Rights Association – (ZIMURA) is an association for Music Composers, Authors and Publishers. It was founded to protect some of the rights granted to creators of music by the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act of Zimbabwe, Chapter 26:05.
ZIMURA also represents music creators all over the world through reciprocal agreements that have been signed with Music Rights Associations & Societies otherwise known as Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) and by virtue of Zimbabwe being a signatory to the Berne Convention, which provides for equal treatment of music rights holders throughout the world.
ZIMURA is affiliated to the International Confederation of Authors and Composers Societies (CISAC), the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (ARIPO), and the Zimbabwe Intellectual Property Office (ZIPO) under the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs among other organisations that uphold Intellectual Property Rights.
With more than 35 years of experience, we help our clients get the best out of their works.
When you join ZIMURA as a member, you give us the Copyright to administer on your behalf. We then manage your rights and assists music users to comply with the law by issuing them a Copyright Music License that allows them to use the work legally according to the Copyright Act.
